  • How to: Washing your hair with a NÄKK shampoo bar

    Switching from conventional liquid shampoos
to a solid shampoo bar might initially appear daunting, but it's a worthwhile step toward a more sustainable lifestyle. You may wonder about its effectiveness, lathering capabilities, and usage compared to liquid shampoo.

Here, we provide insightful tips to ease your
transition into the world of compact shampoo bars:

    First Use

A solid shampoo bar resembles a regular soap bar. To begin, remove it from its container, and run it under warm water. Now, lather the bar in your hands for
about ten seconds before applying it to your hair.

Subsequent uses will be more convenient as the shampoo bar will be ready to use immediately. However, be patient, as it might take a few washes to fully experience the benefits due to residual buildup from previous products.

    Application

Traditional shampoos are mostly water, making their production and transportation environmentally taxing. In contrast, solid shampoo bars contain only essential ingredients, allowing you to add the water when needed. Using a shampoo bar is straightforward:

    • Wet your hair thoroughly, allowing warm water to flow over it.
    • Rub the shampoo bar between your hands to create a lather, then apply it to your hair.
    • Alternatively, you can directly rub the bar onto your hair according to your preference.
    • After application, place the bar on a soap dish or shower rack and thoroughly rinse your hair with lukewarm water.

    What About Conditioner?

While our shampoos are suitable for all hair types, individual experiences vary. Hair care is highly personal and depends on your hair type. Many users have found that when using NÄKK shampoo bars, their hair requires no additional nourishment, even if it did previously. However, if your hair tends to be dry and finicky, we recommend using a NÄKK solid conditioner bar alongside our shampoo with each wash. For normal hair types, using the conditioner once a week or as needed for extra care and nourishment due to environmental or heat damage should suffice.

    A Unique Experience

When rinsing your hair for the first time with a solid shampoo, you may notice a different texture. Don't be disheartened; once your hair dries, it will feel lightweight, voluminous, and luxuriously soft.

    Longevity of Solid Shampoo Bars

The lifespan of a shampoo bar varies greatly depending on usage frequency and hair thickness. However, based on feedback from our clients, most have been pleasantly surprised by its longevity. On average, one shampoo bar lasts approximately as long as two regular-sized bottles of liquid shampoo.

    Proper Storage

To ensure your shampoo bar maintains its integrity, it's crucial to let it dry between uses. Prolonged exposure to water will cause it to melt and become mushy, leading to wasteful use. We recommend storing your shampoo bar on a shower rack or a soap dish with good drainage. If you prefer using a container, shake the bar dry after use and let it air dry before sealing the container.

Embracing change often comes with a learning curve, but with time, you'll seamlessly incorporate solid shampoo bars into your daily routine. Before you know it, you'll wonder how you ever managed without them.
